Zoo El Refugio Santa Cruz & Gran Chiquitania

This charming and responsible little zoo is a refuge for rescued animals. The zoo accepts volunteers (one month minimum) who can lodge for free in exchange for their labor, and there is an attractive wooded campsite if you fancy spending a night among the animals. Horses are available for hire for B$40 per hour. It's a pleasant 3km walk here, heading south from Samaipata.
