Palace of the Eighth Dalai Lama Lhasa

This palace (also named the Kelsang Podrang, after the seventh Dalai Lama) is the first you come to after entering the Norbulingka grounds and also the oldest, dating from 1755. Every Dalai Lama from the eighth to the 13th has used it as a summer palace. Only the main audience hall is open; it features 65 hanging thangkas and some lovely painted wooden panels.
