Icarus & Daedalus Statues Rethymno Province

Agia Gallini has its place in the annals of Greek mythology as the site where Icarus and Daedalus are believed to have taken their ill-fated flight from Crete. The moment is marked at the far-western end of the harbour, where you'll find statues depicting the two preparing for the journey at the hilltop amphitheatre. Here also is a small folk-art museum built into a cave.
