Druk Wangyal Lhakhang Western Bhutan

This temple crowning a hillock next to the Dochu La is well worth a visit to view its upper-floor cartoon-style modern murals. Images include the fourth king battling Indian rebels in the jungle, monks using a laptop and a portrait of the royal family, alongside a modern history of the kingdom. It's a quintessentially Bhutanese fusion of the 21st and 15th centuries.
