The 10m-high, flat-topped mound known as Dragon Hill was believed by locals to be the site where St George slew the dragon. Archeologists prefer to think that it’s a natural formation, the summit of which was scraped level during the Iron Age, and used for rituals. It sits just below the chalked outline of the Uffington White Horse, off the B4507.
