Avarua Landing The Cook Islands

Fishermen return from their morning’s exploits around 8am or 9am in tiny outrigger canoes with several huge wahoo and tuna. Hang around for the cleaning and gutting because there are three giant green turtles that come to feed on the entrails and off-cuts that are cast into the water. Whales pass just beyond the reef in the July-to-October season.
